| My passport has just expired; can I still go to Anguilla for
my upcoming vacation? Although Anguilla immigration prefers a passport, U.S. and Canadian citizens with a valid birth certificate (one with a raised seal) and an official government issued photo identification (such as a drivers license) is acceptable.
I am worried that we will vacation during Anguillas rainy season. Anguilla has no rainy season; in fact it rarely rains in Anguilla at all. If it does happen to rain on your vacation you will notice that rainstorms in Anguilla are generally very brief.
We are concerned with crime on our vacation. Anguilla has a nearly non-existent crime rate. There is no poverty on the island and vacationers often remark at the ease and comfort that they feel on this friendly island.
Where can I exchange my money on island? There is no need to exchange U.S. currency while on island, as it is widely accepted throughout Anguilla. Banks on the island include Barclays Bank PLC, Caribbean Commercial Bank (Anguilla) Ltd., Hansa Bank and Trust Company Ltd., Scotiabank Anguilla Ltd. And Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
Are there ATMs on the island? Yes, however they are only for local accounts.
I am afraid to fly on prop planes, is there another way to get to the island? Only prop planes fly directly into Anguilla, however jet planes fly into neighboring St. Marteen. St. Marteen is just a twenty-minute ferry boat ride from Anguilla.
Can I drink the water? Anguillas water is potable. Hotels, gift shops, and other stores carry bottled water as well.
Can I bring food into Anguilla? Food for your own consumption and one bottle of liquor is permissible. Anguilla has a number of well-stocked grocery stores and some places of stay even offer to complete a preliminary shopping list for you prior to your arrival.
Are there any all-inclusive places to stay on Anguilla? Most properties offer packages and a variety of meal plans, however, Cocolobba Valtur on Meads Bay is the islands only true all inclusive property. With over seventy restaurants in just 35 square miles, most visitors prefer to experience a diversity of places to dine.
Are there lifeguards on Anguillas beaches? There are no official lifeguards on Anguilla. Most of Anguillas bays have a very gradual slope, calm, clear waters and little to no current.
Our hotel is not on a beach, where can we go to enjoy the surf and sand? All of Anguillas beaches are public. Visitors often enjoy renting a car or scooter and visiting a different beach each day. |
